Committees

Social

The social committee organizes, schedules, and advertises social events for the FLP community.  Members will meet regularly with the social director to plan social and recreational events.  Individuals are responsible for the logistics of the events, gathering all materials necessary to achieve a successful outcome. The committee must start planning for our next FLP social, the Thanksgiving Potluck on Friday, November 19.

Public Relations

The Public Relations committee is responsible for updating and informing members of FLP of upcoming events in AASU, FLP, and other sub-orgs. Members will have the opportunity to network and socialize within AASU and UF to find out about different events and in turn, promote these events to all members of FLP. With public relations, committee members will utilize Facebook, Twitter, Txtblaster, and our FLP website to advertise these events. In addition, public relations will be responsible for creating flyers with Photoshop.

M&M Relations

One of the biggest aspects of FLP is our Mentor/Mentee program. Up until this moment, mentors and mentees have been assigned and M&M week has passed. To further the mentor/mentee relationship and ensure that mentors and mentees are keeping in contact, members of this committee will be responsible for creating mentor/mentee events and challenges. Members will create casual events such as mentor/mentee lunch dates and study dates as well as create challenges or tasks for mentors/mentees to complete throughout the FLP year.

Charity Fundraising

Members will implement projects that will bring in money for various charities. Individuals must search for causes to fund raise for. The committee organizes, schedules, and advertises the fundraising events for the FLP community to partake in.  The committee must start planning for our Dodgeball event Friday, November 12. We will be asking a players fee that will help raise money for the Gators March for Babies Walk on Sunday, November 14.

Community Service

The committee must find service events in which FLP members can participate.  Members must advertise and encourage active participation in volunteer activities. Members are expected to contact different organizations/directors  to gather information and report back to the committee.  The committee will present at least two possible service activities to FLP Directors each month for all FLP members to participate in.  We will participate in Gators March for Babies Sunday, November 14, and the committee is expected to start advertising for this event.

Historian

Historians will create a scrapbook that will archive all the FLP activities for this school year.  This scrapbook will not only help newcomers and non-FLPers visualize the dynamics of the program, but will help store memories for current members. At least two members from the committee are required at all FLP related events to take pictures.  Members must save programs and tickets from the events for the scrapbook.  At least two spreads are due by each FLP meeting.

AASU Outreach

FLP is one of the first steps into getting, but sooner or later you’re going to need to stick your head out there and experience new things. For this committee we would like to go out to meetings or events of other organizations to see what else AASU and UF have to offer. You would be in charge of learning about their up comings events and then prepare a short segment to share with the rest of your FLP friends.  How you present this information is up to you, either through a movie, presentation, or announcements. You will also help promote join events with other organization to help promote AASU’s Unity.
