Mentor Mentee (M&M) Week (10/11-10/13)

We’d like for you to join us for our Mentor Mentee, aka M&M, Week from October 11-13th. During these 3 days, we have lined up for you engaging activities so that you can get to know your mentor or mentee better.

M&M Week 2011:
Tues, Oct 11 (6:30 PM)–Cupcake Wars, Reitz Colonnade
Showcase your cupcake decorating skills, while you bond with your mentors/mentees! The theme for the cupcake decorating contest is “This is My Mentor, This is My Mentee,” in which you will decorate your cupcake according to what your mentor or mentee is like. 10 finalists will be chosen by the FLP Directors, and then everyone will vote on the first place winner.
***Please bring 2 baked undecorated cupcakes (for yourself and your mentor/mentee), as well as decorating supplies (i.e.–sprinkles, icing, and etc). We shall be providing a limited amount of decorating supplies, so do please remember to bring your own as well.

Wed, Oct 12 (11:30 AM- 1:30 PM)–Krishna Lunch on the Plazas of the Americas
Enjoy the nice weather with your newly acquainted M&M as we lunch on Krishna. A vegetarian but oh-so filling buffet awaits us all for only $4/person! Also, we would highly encourage both you and your mentor/mentee to attend the Asian Kaleidoscope Month’s (AKM) Opening Ceremony presenting guest speaker Rex Lee from the highly acclaimed Entourage! This will take place the same day in the Phillips Center from 7-10 PM (https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=192444770827480)

Thurs, Oct 13 (6:30)–Scavenger Hunt, meet at the Reitz Collonade
FLP is proud to be working with the Florida Cicerones Tradition Keeper Committee to have you riled up to explore UF through a campus-wide Scavenger Hunt! This is just yet another exciting opportunity for you all to release some test anxiety with some fresh air and fun There will be prizes for the winner as well, so get ready to whip out them maps!

The M&M, aka Mentor-Mentee, REVEAL is finally here!!! Get ready for some wild excitement as you discover who will be that shhhweet sensation acting as a guiding light throughout your UF career and beyond. It’s the most hyped meeting of the year, so you DO NOT want to miss out!

***For those of you who signed up to be a mentee, you should have received a confirmation email. If you did not, email the directors at aasuflp@gmail.com. Also, email us ASAP if you will not be able to attend the Reveal.

**Mentors, you will receive an email in the near future with additional instructions in regards to this meeting.

M&Ms will be thrown around, aka we’ll be revealing mentor-mentee pairs, on Monday, October 3rd; doors open at 6:30 PM and we’ll promptly start at 7 PM in Little Hall 109.

One who walks beside us who’s with us every step of our journeys, and one who we reach back for and we bring along after we’ve cleared the way. That last friend represents our need to mentor, to lend our experiences and our wisdom in hopes that it will give someone after us the strength to reach a little higher and dream a little bigger. Hello Prospective Mentors!

We have met hundreds of students who are drawn in by how they can become involved within our tight-knit AASU community. Sophomores, juniors, seniors, super seniors, and those super super seniors: we need YOU now more than ever to help guide and mentor the upcoming FLP Class VI. These freshmen are enthused and eager to learn what it means to be and how they themselves can become a leader at THE Gator Nation.

Join us to learn more about the Freshman Leadership Program and our Mentor/Mentee relations at our MENTOR INFORMATIONAL to be held on FRIDAY, JULY 29th in REITZ, ROOM 282. Doors open at 6 PM and the informational starts at 6:30 PM.

We know everyone is digging deep in their pockets with no change falling out, so we decided on a free event for everyone to take advantage of…yes, you know, you’ve been wanting to, but haven’t gotten the chance? Well, now’s the time!

You and mentor(s) shall attend a GatorNight anytime between now and the next meeting on Monday, February 1st. Be sure to take a picture and send it us! As usual, we will select the most creative picture for a prize!
