			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>AASU and UF APIA Affairs are proud to present <strong>APIA Awakening: Inspiring, Educating, and Empowering the Leader in All of Us.</strong></p>
<p>The conference&#8217;s purpose is to develop leadership skills, connect community members, and foster a deeper understanding of relevance of APIA issues to personal lives. </p>
<p>APIA Awakening is filled with workshops, keynote speakers, and opportunities for personal development and education about multiple communities&#8217; issues. The workshop facilitators represent various backgrounds and experiences including AASU alumni, community members, and UF faculty and staff. </p>
<p>The 3 respective workshop session categories are 1) Individual Focus, 2) Asian American issues and 3) Intersection with other communities. </p>

<p>Our first two Spring meetings took place on January 26 &#038; February 6. We hope we gave you a new perspective to what you can do within AASU and FLP so that you can become a part of something even bigger than life: AASU WEEK 2012&#8211;ascension.</p>
<p>If you haven&#8217;t contacted with the Head of your event, do so ASAP so that we can get things rolling! Here&#8217;s the line-up for AASU Week:</p>
<p>AASU Week is March 24-31<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<br />
Sat&#8211; Mini-Conference; Learn about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into planning educational workshops and guest speaker presentations, as well as Asian American issues and how to raise awareness on these issues.</p>
<p>Sun&#8211;AASU Olympics; If you went out to AASU Field Day, you&#8217;ll know this Michael Fronda-led event will also be a hoot! Get excited to prepare a variety of exhilarating and mind-provoking games/activities as all AASU suborgs compete for the win!</p>
<p>Mon&#8211;Birthday Bash; AASU is turning 19! Our umbrella organization celebrates its birthday by honoring those most dedicated and hardworking to their suborgs. You&#8217;ll be helping coordinate decorations, awards, catering, programming and tech.</p>
<p>Tue&#8211;Gameshow Night; A new addition, this gameshow night will be lots of fun to plan as you will see what goes into planning a fun competition filled with competing mentor/mentee pairs!</p>
<p>Thu&#8211;Film Screening with APIA with panel; Everyone loves educational films and guest speakers! Why not have both?</p>
<p>Fri&#8211;Closing Ceremony; This committee is based on applications. Learn what it takes to put on a large-scale production, as far as programming and working with special guest performances. </p>
<p>Sat&#8211;Block Party; Set outside on Reitz Colonnade/North Lawn, this event is also a never before seen one! Get the chance to work with AASU suborgs as well as the Black Student Union, Hispanic Student Association and the Pride Student Union. Games, cultural engagement and TONS of food entail! </p>

This will be FLP&#8217;s first Fall community service event and the last activity for VSO&#8217;s ACE week. Gator Plunge is a single-day service project where hundreds of volunteers will branch out into various areas of Gainesville to participate in exciting service projects. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>M&amp;M Week was such a success! Thank you everyone for coming out and making our events truly successful! From baking cakes to running around campus (in the dark!) our M&amp;M bonding couldn&#8217;t have been more fun!</p>
<p>Moving onto our upcoming activities, FLP is having our FOURTH General Meeting TOMORROW at 6:30 pm at LIT 0125! Note the room change. We are NOT at CSE anymore. Earlier this week, us FLP directors have been spamming you with e-mail about this upcoming meeting. At this meeting we will be discussing and splitting into committees. It&#8217;s finally the time to get some hands on experience that will help you guys in the future with leadership positions in AASU&#8217;s suborgs or other organizations here at UF!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a brief description of our committees:</p>
<ul>
<li><label> Community Service-In charge of finding community service projects</label></li>
<li>Fundraising-In charge of planning events to fund-raise for charity</li>
<li>Social-In charge of planning upcoming socials such as Thanksgiving Potluck</li>
<li>Historian-In charge of documenting FLP events through scrapbooking and taking pictures</li>
<li>Public Relations-In charge of promoting FLP events through Facebook, website, etc.</li>
<li>AASU Outreach-In charge of keeping FLP members updated on upcoming AASU events</li>
<li>M&amp;M Relations -In charge of finding M&amp;M bonding events or activities</li>
</ul>
